Merger with Spanish lender spurs PNC’s growth in Miami

PNC Bank’s $11.6 billion acquisition of Spanish lender BBVA – approved Friday – has accelerated its plan to expand into major metropolitan areas across the United States. That includes growing PNC’s presence in Miami-Dade.
PNC in mid-April announced intentions to broaden its footprint here in the county, where it has been doing business for more than 20 years. That includes a “successful retail location in Aventura” and a more recent test of the market in Coral Gables that began in 2018, PNC Southeast Florida President Cressman Bronson told Miami Today.
