Long-planned water clean-up to start

Written by on May 15, 2017

City of Miami officials will host a kick-off meeting about the Wagner Creek and Seybold Canal Dredging and Restoration Project at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, at the Miami Association of Fire Fighters/IAFF Local 587, 2980 NW South River Drive.

Staff from the Office of Capital Improvements will help inform and answer questions from residents and stakeholders about the environmental clean-up project.

The project area is between Northwest 20th Street and the confluence of Seybold Canal and the Miami River. The project’s primary objective is to remove accumulated sediments, enhance storm water conveyance capacity, and improve vessel navigation.

The project is anticipated to begin this summer and end by fall of 2018. The city posted a public notice stating dredging is expected to begin June 9.
