Jobs incentives jackpot could be magnet to new businesses

Miami-Dade may soon offer major financial incentives to companies to relocate or expand. A proposal by Eileen Higgins on its way to commission chambers after a committee unanimously adopted it Tuesday would provide $2.5 million or more in awards over a five-year period to new-to-market or expanding businesses.
In return, companies in any industry in the proposed Miami-Dade Relocation and Expansion Incentives Program must create at least 50 new jobs within that time with an estimated average annual wage at least equal to 150% of the average of all wages and salaries in the county and in the state.
