Italian yachts designer to create 5G poles in Coral

The Coral Gables City Commission on Tuesday voted unanimously to contract with Pininfarina, an Italian company that has designed cars, yachts, and residential projects, to create design standards for poles that will hold 5G equipment within the city. The city will spend up to $150,000 for the prototypes.
It’s still unknown how much sway the city will actually have over telecommunications companies, which have been given free rein by the Florida Legislature when it comes to poles that will hold 5G equipment. The law doesn’t require the giant utilities to co-locate their equipment, which would minimize the number of poles.
