Illuminated sculptures may become Coral Gables visitor magnets

Seeking to drive art-centric tourism to its downtown business district, the Coral Gables City Commission on Tuesday agreed in concept to fund Illuminate Coral Gables at a level of $100,000.
The international art event, which is set to debut on Dr. Martin Luther King weekend, Jan. 15-18, 2021, and remain on display until Presidents’ Day weekend in late February, features sculptures that employ novel elements of light, said Patrick O’Connell, co-founder of Illuminate Coral Gables and a former chair of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce.
