Generic drugs maker Civica Rx adds to its product list

A not-for-profit generic drug manufacturer that helped Baptist Health South Florida during the drug shortages of the pandemic has increased its coverage, adding more critical medications used in intensive care units and operating rooms at a fixed low cost.

Civica Rx, founded in 2018 by three philanthropies and seven leading health systems to mitigate drug shortages nationwide, announced in 2019 that 12 health systems representing 250 hospitals, including Baptish Health South Florida, would join as founding members. Since then, the hospital system has been able to get vital medications at fixed lower prices to keep going, said Madeline Camejo, vice president and chief pharmacy officer.
