Funding lined up for $1.5 billion in Miami-Dade water/sewer upgrades

Future upgrades to Miami-Dade’s water and sewer system now have a funding structure, as lawmakers last week gave a preliminary OK to bond issues that, if tapped into entirely, would grow what’s already owed for the system by 65%.
County commissioners Jan. 22 unanimously approved, without comment, an ordinance authorizing the issuance of up to $1.5 billion in Miami-Dade County Water and Sewer System Subordinate Obligations to pay for system improvements.
