‘Free’ park land laced with arsenic not so free for county

Seventy-two free acres in a growing metropolis isn’t often something to turn one’s nose up at, but that’s what Miami-Dade County is doing with a piece of the former Fontainbleau Golf Course.
Commissioners last year directed the administration to study whether to accept donated land from Fontainbleau Lakes LLC for future public park use. But an Oct. 22 report from Mayor Carlos Giménez says preliminary soil assessments found arsenic contamination “above the direct exposure commercial and industrial cleanup target level.”…To read the full story click here
