Four Miami Beach bridges in bad shape, state finds

Four city-owned bridges out of 24 in Miami Beach are considered in “poor condition, requiring repairs” according to an October Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) report. The report is done every two years. The city estimates just the repairs design phase for the four bridges will cost $280,000.
On Dec. 12, the Beach city commission passed a resolution to continue with the design phase of repairs to the four bridges and changed the budget to allocate money for them. According to the FDOT report, the bridge most in need of repairs, at 77th Street bridging Biscayne Point Canal, has a sufficiency rating of only 45.1% and the estimated design cost to repair it is $70,000…To read the full story click here
