FIU awaits state guidance for required survey on beliefs

Florida International University is awaiting guidance from the Board of Governors’ office to develop a state-required beliefs survey as spelled out in new legislation.
The Florida Legislature’s mandate, which was signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis in June and went into effect in July, requires the State Board of Education and the Board of Governors to “annually assess intellectual freedom and viewpoint diversity” at all Florida College System institutions and state universities with a beliefs survey that will be administered to educators and students.
