First Miami Beach bond projects should start in February

Miami Beach voters have OK’d $439 million in general obligation bonds, with the borrowed money to be injected into the city. But another challenge remains – making sure the funded projects get done. The first work should come in February, officials say.
A preliminary city commission resolution passed Nov. 14 would create a seven-person committee to do that. The commission would choose six members and Mayor Dan Gelber would name a seventh to be the chair. Several other residents would be chosen from the Audit Committee and the Parks and Recreational Facilities Board to be non-voting but contributing members…
