Facing garbage cutback, county instead trying $25 fee hike

It’s been 10 years since garbage collection fees have been raised, but Miami-Dade officials say it’s essential that customers pay a bit more to maintain their services.

The county commission last week gave preliminary approval to increasing the fee to $25 a year for property owners in unincorporated Miami-Dade and customers within the solid waste service area.
