Facing fund crunch, parks’ defenders hit the trail

Just a few months shy of budget hearings, Miami-Dade County commissioners in the Parks and Cultural Affairs Committee are vowing not to cut any more funding to the Parks Department and are to sit down this month to talk about creative ways to funnel more money into parks.
“We’re looking at a budget that is probably going to try to hit parks again hard and I don’t think we need to keep hitting the parks,” said Jose “Pepe” Diaz at the meeting last week. “We’re not looking to take away from parks, but to find a way to enhance and work with the parks.”…To read the full story click here
