Driving on Florida’s Turnpike is about to get trickier in South Dade

As part of a widening of Florida’s Turnpike between Eureka Drive (Southwest 184th Street) and Killian Parkway (Southwest 104th Street), a new southbound exit at Coral Reef Drive (Southwest 152nd Street) and Southwest 117th Avenue is to open Tuesday, Dec. 11, the Florida Department of Transportation says.

The new exit ramp is about a mile north of the current ramp. It’s getting a new number, Exit 18, replacing the current ramp, now called Exit 16.

If you’re southbound on the Turnpike and miss the new exit you’ll have to keep driving to Eureka Drive (Exit 13) and turn around and go back north to Exit 16.
