Despite curfew vote, Miami Beach alcohol hours still fluid

With voters’ approval of rolling back the sale of alcohol until 2 a.m. in a non-binding straw poll question, Miami Beach officials feel confident this will help South Beach reduce crime and improve resident’s quality of life.
The referendum Nov. 2 asked residents if they agreed to limit the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages until 2 a.m., ending the current 5 a.m. call, with specified locations and a few exceptions that would later be terminated by the city commission. At the polls, 56.52% of voters – 7,301 people – said “Yes” to allow the city to make those changes. 43.48% of voters answered “No.”
