Deadline to pick expressway team flummoxes transit gurus

With a courtroom showdown looming that could determine the legality of Florida’s abolition of the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX), local transportation decision-makers last week pondered aloud what would come of their inability to meet the state’s deadline to nominate board members to the authority’s replacement.
Leon County Circuit Court Judge John Cooper today (7/25) is scheduled to hear from lawyers representing MDX and the state, at which time he may approve the authority’s request for a preliminary injunction to block the new statute Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law July 3.
