Covid pushed back big-drawing Beach Pride Month

Pride celebrations will occur around the nation throughout June as this month is considered LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) Pride Month, but Miami Beach is getting ready for an event in September that drew 140,000 attendees in 2019.

The weeklong Miami Beach Pride, the city’s Director of Tourism and Culture Lissette Garcia Arrogante said at a Friday Finance and Economic Resiliency Committee Meeting, usually occurs in April, but covid pushed the event back to September 10 to 19 this year. The festivities to occur on Lummus Park between 11th and 14th Streets and Ocean Drive, she said, include parades, concerts and other special activities.
