County studies emergency controls over charter school actions

Miami-Dade may not have the power to outright dictate how charter schools reopen amid the pandemic. But the county may be able to pressure them using its control over their land, said Commissioner Rebeca Sosa, who told attorneys this month to begin work on the issue.
“It’s too early to expose the children, families and teachers,” she said. “Since we control their zoning [and] how many children they can have, the buildings they can build [and] where it can happen, then I would like to request from the attorneys to go deeper into that.”
