County looks at bus route outsourcing votes, one by one

In response to community complaints of inferior bus service and overlong wait times, Miami-Dade lawmakers are to decide Tuesday whether to change county policy to require that they approve all future outsourcing of Metrobus routes and forego renewing a contract with the company now running its outsourced routes.

But in a rare move, though commissioners in the Transportation and Finance Committee voted 6-0 to forward the item, it went to a full vote March 7 without a recommendation, as some commissioners and county personnel argue the item is unnecessary ahead of a pending system redesign by Transit Alliance Miami.
