County commissioners looking to paid upgrades on long flights

It’s been a longstanding policy in Miami-Dade: Government officials and employees flying on the county’s dime must do so as cheaply as possible, with the cost of any seat upgrades coming out of their own pockets.
Now, two county lawmakers aim to change that.
Commissioners Jose “Pepe” Diaz and Barbara Jordan are co-sponsoring a resolution that would allow any county employee or official flying on county business to be reimbursed for first-class seat or business seating on flights that last longer than five hours, not counting layovers.
