County combing Covid-19 spending to lay out cash fast

The first of several ledgers on Miami-Dade government coronavirus-related spending is due next month. Commissioners hope the information will help maximize spending now while minimizing costs over the long term.
County commissioners last week unanimously approved a resolution by Eileen Higgins directing Mayor Carlos Giménez’s office to begin delivering monthly reports by mid-September. Each report, at minimum, is to detail expenditures of federal Cares Act and FEMA funds, as well as all other funds spent on “Covid-19 related matters,” including district-by-district spending breakdowns for programs commissioners created.
