Coral Gables seeks cost estimates to bury its power lines

Perhaps without knowing how soon their concerns would be magnified, the Coral Gables City Commission on Aug. 27 discussed getting cost estimates from Florida Power & Light to bury power lines throughout the city. Days later, Hurricane Dorian loomed as a threat.
“We’ve been talking about this for 53 years or something,” said Mayor Raul Valdes-Fauli. “We talked about this during my first term as mayor. Vice Mayor [Vince] Lago has brought it up, too. We need to negotiate to get stats and data from FPL.”
