Contract could make convention bureau more Beach-centric

Miami Beach, which has worked with the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau through various contracts since the bureau’s 1984 founding, is looking to negotiate a new deal that requires much more Miami Beach-centric promotion for the city’s part of the bureau’s funding.
“I’m glad we’re talking about this,” said Commissioner David Richardson. “Even as a candidate I said this was a bad contract because of the lack of specificity on branding the City of Miami Beach. The tagline ‘Greater Miami and the Beaches’ did nothing to enhance the brand of Miami Beach, but certainly enhanced our friends across the bay.”
