Contamination notice plan raises fears for homes’ market values

Miami-Dade’s Government Operations Committee on Tuesday deferred for a second time a vote on posting public contamination notices in residential neighborhoods to alert the community of potential risks, fearing it might decrease real estate values and future developments.
“It’s a tough item,” said Commissioner Dennis Moss. Vice Chair Audrey Edmonson “is trying to make sure there are protection levels for properties that are contaminated, but I have a concern it will have a negative impact on real estate and development opportunities.
