Community ID card plan resurfaces after four years

A proposal to give Miami-Dade residents another option for photo identification is back after more than four years in limbo, albeit with concerns over costs and potential criminal misuse.
In theory, the “community ID card” would offer an alternative to IDs issued by the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), allowing cardholders to access county and municipal facilities and services and enroll in government-sponsored programs.
