City redevelopment agency aids Underdeck study

Directors of the Omni Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) voted Thursday to contribute $150,000 to the City of Miami for a study of the Underdeck, the 33-acre open space under I-395. Commissioner Manolo Reyes cast the lone dissenting vote.
Part of the $802 million redesign of I-395 that will create the Signature Bridge, the linear park is meant to be a community gathering place where art exhibitions and sporting events can take place and vendors can set up concessions, generating some revenue to offset maintenance costs. The Florida Department of Transportation will own the space but the City of Miami will manage it.
