Chairwoman says transit director usurped legislative powers

Miami-Dade Commission Chairwoman Audrey Edmonson handed down a stern reprimand last week to county Transportation Director Alice Bravo, whose actions, she said – detailed in a report from the county inspector general’s office – “usurped the legislative power” of the commission.
“I couldn’t believe what I was reading,” Ms. Edmonson said of Inspector General Mary Cagle’s Nov. 13 report. “I am extremely concerned with the actions taken by our transit department.”
The 89-page report, dated Nov. 13, laid out a peculiar series of events beginning in October 2017, when Ms. Bravo forewent an all-but-done deal to buy 181 compressed natural gas (CNG) buses from manufacturer Gillig through a Central Florida contract.
