Cases of thefts on the beach sands in major decline

Overall reported beach thefts decreased 8.24% in the city of Miami Beach between 2017 and 2018, according to the Miami Beach Police Department. In 2017, there were 1,456 beach thefts and so far this year 1,336 have been reported.

According to statistics presented at the city’s Nov. 30 Neighborhood and Community Affairs Committee meeting, Fifth to 23rd streets are the main areas for thefts and the number reported rose just in that area from 2017 to 2018.
