Carollo seeks $250 million for loans on 2,500 housing units

During a September budget hearing, Miami Commissioner Joe Carollo spoke of an ambitious plan to create a homeownership program to tackle the city’s housing crisis. Now, he’s sponsoring a measure on today’s (12/12) agenda to develop a program to do just that – with $250 million.

The resolution calls for creation of the Homeownership Loan Pilot Program, in which the city would borrow or obtain funding resources to reach the total. The funding would go to land acquisition and construction.
