Car crashes increase as county rebounds from covid

As Miami-Dade County traffic volume starts to rebound from the low levels of the pandemic, road crash numbers are accelerating too.
Preliminary data from the Florida Crash Dashboard from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles showed that from Jan. 1 to May 10 there were 44,696 total crashes with 266 fatalities and 20,662 injuries, compared to the entire 2020 year with a total of 51,539 crashes, with 311 fatalities and 24,226 injuries.
