As cancer rates differ, Hispanic population under study

The Hispanic and Latin American patient population has not been openly studied for differences from the general patient population in most hospitals across the nation. In Miami however, where the majority of the community is Hispanics, the Miami Cancer Institute is taking a more targeted approach.
Focusing on a specific population has helped researchers identify what is the best course of treatment, as some ethnicities either react well or not to certain drugs or aid when suffering from a specific type of cancer, according to hospital officials.
