Budget slice for housing is larger in South Florida

Area households spend more than the average US household, most significantly on housing. A US Bureau of Labor Statistics study last week found that the average South Florida family spent $59,947 yearly in 2016-17, above the $58,681 US average.
Area residents put 37.7% of spending into housing, well above the US average. The highest percentage of total spending for housing in big cities was 41.2% in San Francisco; low was 31.2% in Detroit…To read the full story click here
