Breakthrough seen in qualifications of Metrorail operators

A decades-long impasse over minimum qualifications between a local transit workers union and the Miami-Dade Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) could soon see a breakthrough in the hiring process for Metrorail train controllers.
Transportation Director Alice Bravo said Tuesday that her department and Transport Workers Union Local 291 have “agreed to test setting minimum qualifications requirements with the DTPW Rail Technician/Train Control position.”
