Beach may mix police into Ocean Drive’s late-night cocktails

At one of Miami-Dade’s premier nightlife locations, Ocean Drive establishments might soon have to add police presence if they want the good times to keep rolling past midnight.
Last week, the Miami Beach City Commission unanimously approved a preliminary vote to require Ocean Drive establishments between Fifth and 15th streets that serve alcohol past midnight to hire an off-duty police officer. The legislation is sponsored by Mayor Dan Gelber.
