Bankruptcy filings in pandemic might never go through the roof

The pandemic has had an undeniable effect on Miami-Dade businesses but, local experts say, bankruptcy filings haven’t gone through the roof – yet. And they might not.
“The day of reckoning isn’t happening just yet for many individuals and companies,” said Patricia Redmond, a bankruptcy attorney with Stearns Weaver and adjunct professor at the University of Miami School of Law. For some companies, she said, it may never come, as federal aid money like the Paycheck Protection Program provided some life support.
