Awaited east-west transit choice deferred indefinitely

Plans to upgrade a commuter route between downtown Miami and Florida International University with new rapid transit aren’t yet ready to leave the station, Miami-Dade transportation decisionmakers said before deferring the matter indefinitely.
The county transportation planning board last week was to choose a preferred transit mode for the East-West Corridor, one of six congested routes targeted for upgrades in the 2016 Strategic Miami Area Rapid Transit (Smart) Plan.
