As 4,000 seek pandemic aid, United Way calls second halt

After reopening the Miami-Dade Pandemic Assistance program to distribute the remaining $4 million in funds to first-time applicants Oct. 1, United Way of Miami-Dade said it had to once again push pause after receiving 4,000 applications.
The submission process was to close automatically once the maximum number of applications was received to exhaust the remaining funds available. The $4 million in funding is expected to be distributed in about a month, according to officials.
