Annexation that would quadruple some home taxes up to vote

Two households in a neighborhood North Miami has long targeted for annexation could see their property taxes skyrocket nearly fourfold if the city succeeds. Because they are the only two homes in the area, they’d get no vote on the annexation.
Miami-Dade commissioners Oct. 6 are to decide whether to approve North Miami’s request to begin annexation proceedings for Sunkist Grove and Gratigny-Dixie. North Miami has pushed to annex both neighborhoods for nearly seven years.
