Airports poised to start contract flow in $5 billion upgrade

Less than two months after giving a cursory nod to an up to $5 billion improvement plan for Miami-Dade’s airports, county lawmakers next week are to decide whether to approve the terms of the plan’s first two multimillion-dollar contracts.
Under the contract language county commissioners are to consider July 10, two architecture and engineering firms would receive roughly $35.8 million apiece for a five-year contract plus two five year renewal options.
