After decade in limbo, Miami-Dade funds add affordable housing

Nearly $5 million in affordable housing bonds will finally serve their purpose after a decade in developmental limbo, as Miami-Dade lawmakers last week rerouted the funds and approved a builder for a new project four miles from the original site.
The move shifted $4.59 million from a long-stalled project near the West Dade Regional Library and added roughly $410,000 more – for an even $5 million total allocation – for a new project in the Sunset area at 9000 SW 72nd St.
