Discussions to draft legislation that would enact a 2 a.m. rollback of alcohol sales in Miami Beach has begun, after city commissioners referred the plans to the Neighborhood and Quality of Life Committee, expecting progress in January.
The Nov. 2 non-binding referendum vote on limiting the hours the city could sell alcohol received a 13-point margin of approval among voters, with 56.52%, or 7,304 voters, saying “Yes.” Several organizations supported the 2 a.m. rollback of alcohol sales including Miami Beach United, SOBE Safe, South of Fifth Neighborhood Association, West Avenue Neighborhood Association and the Miami Design Preservation League.
