As president of The Easton Group, Jose Antonio Hernandez-Solaun spends his days overseeing all aspects of the commercial real estate company.
But his work doesn’t end when he leaves the office. He has a second career of sorts as a volunteer to which he devotes countless hours to make a difference in the community.
His endeavors include supporting young entrepreneurial leaders and teaching the basics of financial literacy to college students in ways they can truly understand through a workshop called Mo Money Less Problems.
Often, people who become involved in a cause pertaining to a disease have a family member or friend who suffers from the illness. For Mr. Hernandez-Solaun, that’s not the case. He joined the board of the American Diabetes Association after learning how debilitating and prevalent the disease is and has been dedicated to supporting education about it ever since.
With such a hectic schedule, he has to carefully balance his time. The decision of what to do with free periods is simple – his wife and two young children are always top priority.
Miami Today reporter Susan Danseyar interviewed Mr. Hernandez-Solaun at the University of Miami.
