"Midnight’s Children" is based on the Booker Prize-winning novel by Salman Rushdie. At the stroke of midnight on Aug. 15, 1947, as India proclaims independence from Great Britain, a nurse in a Bombay hospital switches two newborn babies. Saleem Sinai, the illegitimate son of a poor woman, and Shiva, the offspring of a wealthy couple, are fated to live the destiny meant for each other. Their lives become mysteriously intertwined and are inextricably linked to India’s journey of triumphs and disasters. 6:30 p.m. Additional screenings through July 7. In "Frances Ha" Frances lives in New York, but she doesn’t really have an apartment. Frances is an apprentice for a dance company, but she’s not really a dancer. Frances has a best friend named Sophie, but they aren’t really speaking anymore. Frances throws herself into her dreams, even as their possible reality dwindles.
