ENCHANTED LIFE

Rhonda Riley’s "The Enchanted Life of Adam Hope" is an unconventional romantic love story. During WWII, teenager Evelyn Roe is sent to manage the family farm in rural North Carolina, where she finds what she takes to be a badly burned soldier on their property. She rescues him, and it quickly becomes clear he is not human. The rescued body recovers at an unnatural speed, and just as fast, Evelyn and Adam fall deeply in love. 8 p.m. Books & Books, 265 Aragon Ave., Coral Gables. WAR FOR SOULS

"The Curse of the Demon: The War for a Soul" by Cynthia Aracen is a fictional, quasi-religious story of a family who was cursed by Lucifer because of an agreement he made with the head of the family many years ago. He was to have the soul of a newborn child and make the child his servant, but when he came for his prize there were two children instead of one. However, Lucifer finds out one of the children has been visited by an angel and has powers beyond his control. 2 p.m. Books & Books, 265 Aragon Ave., Coral Gables. GROWING UP

"When Will My Grown-Up Kid Grow Up?" by Dr. Jeffrey Arnett claims to cover every aspect of life for an 18- to 29-year-old, from that first taste of independence at college to that time at the end of the 20s, when the majority of kids are settling down. It aims to explain what grown children are going through intense self-focus, instability, a feeling of being in-between mixed with a sense of possibilities and how parents should deal with these changes. 6:30 p.m. Books & Books, 265 Aragon Ave., Coral Gables. Details: (305) 442-4408 or www.booksandbooks.com.

THE SLIPPAGE

In Ben Greenman’s "The Slippage," William and Louisa Day are a suburban husband and wife, with no children, confronting the question of what their relationship means to them and if and how it will survive. One day, after weeks of bizarre behavior—disappearing at parties, hoarding mail—Louisa approaches William with a stark request: "I want you to build us a house." Caught off guard, William is suddenly forced to reckon with his own hopes and desires, his growing discomfort at home and work, and, in the end, his wife’s ultimatum. 8 p.m. Books & Books, 265 Aragon Ave., Coral Gables. Details: (305) 442-4408 or www.booksandbooks.com.
