BISCAYNE NATURE

   The Crandon Park Visitors and Nature Center offers the Bear Cut Preserve, a 264-acre natural barrier island habitat on the northern tip of Key Biscayne. Guided tours and educational programs are offered year round for all ages — from low tide marine beach and wading tours to bird watching, canoeing, kayaking, snorkeling and bicycling. Visit the center’s exhibit room and aquariums with recreated underwater habitats. 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Crandon Park Visitors and Biscayne Nature Center, 6767 Crandon Blvd., Key Biscayne. KAYAK & SNORKEL

   Kayak along the shallow waters of Key Biscayne and explore the protected areas of Bear Cut Preserve with Crandon Park’s Kayak and Snorkel Adventure. Discover tropical fish, spotted eagle rays, sea stars and coastal birds. Closed-toe water shoes, water, sunglasses, sunscreen, towel and a wide-brimmed hat are recommended. 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Crandon Park, 6767 Crandon Blvd., Key Biscayne. $70 per person. RSVP required. FARMERS MARKET

   A new Brickell farmers market opens every Friday and Saturday offering organic produce, local honey, fresh baked breads and pastries, orchids, tropical fruit smoothies and more. BIKE BISCAYNE

   Crandon Park’s Key Biscayne Bike Adventure explores Key Biscayne as you bike along the streets and paths of the historic barrier island. This tour highlights Crandon Park’s Bear Cut Preserve, the Crandon Gardens — site of the former Crandon Zoo — and the Village of Key Biscayne. 1:30-4 p.m. Crandon Park, 6767 Crandon Blvd., Key Biscayne. $28 per person. KITE DAY

   The 20th annual "Kite Day," presented by Miami-Dade County Parks, spotlights "Kites of the Caribbean" — an exhibit by local kite makers representing the styles and traditions of Caribbean kite flyers from such countries as Cuba, Haiti and Trinidad. Visitors will see a returning display of colossal kites, including a 150-foot rainbow, a 100-foot squid, a 30-foot scuba man and a 30-foot "Nemo" fish. The family-style event also features free kite competitions and kite-building classes for all ages, as well as music, food and refreshments available for purchase.
