Small business rebounding: SBA official

    The second-in-command of the federal agency charged with helping small businesses last week visited merchants in Coral Gables' posh business district. Her message: the US government is here for you.
   US Small Business Administration Deputy Administrator Marie Johns stopped at Books & Books at 265 Aragon Ave. and Essence Boutique at 78 Miracle Mile to highlight what consumers can do during the holiday season to support small businesses, which she noted are a major source of jobs nationwide.
   The boutique's owners, for example, used an SBA-backed loan to reopen a second store in Miami's Mary Brickell Village, which created five jobs.
