Suit seeks to block Sony Open upgrade

    A member of the Matheson family is accusing organizers of the annual Sony Open professional tennis tournament on Key Biscayne and county officials of conspiring to dupe the public into approving a plan to expand tennis facilities for the tournament.
   Bruce C. Matheson — whose family donated Key Biscayne land 72 years ago that became Crandon Park and who sits on a committee that oversees the park — makes the claims in a lawsuit he filed against the county last week in Miami-Dade County Circuit Court seeking to block the project.
