Bright causeway idea: free illumination

    By this time next year residents and visitors quite possibly will be viewing vibrant colors lighting up the Rickenbacker Causeway at night, if active resident and lobbyist Rodney Barreto has his way.
   Mr. Barreto recently came up with the idea of putting LED lights on the county-owned bridge connecting Miami to Virginia Key and Key Biscayne and is seeking to bring the idea to reality without using public funding or taxpayer money.
   "If done right, it would turn that bridge into a landmark bridge," said Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez, who is in support of the idea. "It would certainly make it almost a work of art."
   But, he asked, at what cost?
