RUINED
GableStage presents 2009 Pulitzer-Prize winning play "Ruined" written by Lynn Nottage and directed by Joseph Adler. This play is a haunting work about the resilience of the human spirit. This frank and funny drama is a variation of Bertolt Brecht's 1939 play "Mother Courage and Her Children," translated to a brothel in the Congo, where women are both victims and pillars of strength. 8 p.m. Additional performances through Oct. 7. GableStage, 1200 Anastasia Ave., eastern section of the Biltmore Hotel, Coral Gables. $37.50-$50. Details: (305) 446-1116 or jadler@gablestage.org or www.gablestage.org.

Monday 10/1

UNLIKELY HEROES
GableStage presents a free play reading of "Unlikely Heroes" by Charles Gluck, directed by Avi Hoffman with Laura Turnbull, Mark DellaVentura, Patti Gardner, Arielle Hoffman and Peter Librach. The play tells of the Weiss family, and how when faced with a medical crisis, strength is found in the flux between fragmentation and unity. 7:30 p.m. GableStage, 1200 Anastasia Ave., eastern section of the Biltmore Hotel, Coral Gables. Details: (305) 446-1116 or jadler@gablestage.org or www.gablestage.org.
