BLOOMSDAY

   "Bloomsday" was made famous by James Joyce’s novel "Ulysses" and is celebrated by the Irish.    Evelyn Lozada, from VH1′s reality show "Basketball Wives," releases her first novel in a series, "Inner Circle: The Wives Association." Eve Inez marries Los Angeles Leopard’s superstar wide receiver, Chase Landon, and finds herself in a close-knit circle of friends who are also married to elite athletes. AARON BURR

   Michael Parker’s "In the Watery Part of the World" is a fiction based on historical fact. Parker follows Theodosia Burr Alston, daughter of the controversial vice president Aaron Burr, who disappeared in 1813 while en route from South Carolina to New York; and how in 1970, two elderly white women and one black man were the last townspeople to leave a small barrier island off the coast of North Carolina. The story tells of the descendants of Theodosia Burr Alston and those of the freed man whose family would be forever tied to hers. It’s a tale of pirates and slaves, treason and treasures, madness and devotion, that takes place on a tiny island battered by storms, infested with mosquitoes and cut off from the world. 8 p.m. Books & Books, 265 Aragon Ave., Coral Gables.
